Avantika Goswami

Programme Manager, Climate Change and Green Economy, Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), India

Avantika is the Programme Manager in the Climate Change and Green Economy Programme at the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), in New Delhi, India. With over 13 years of experience across the public, private, and non-profit sectors, she brings an interdisciplinary lens spanning climate policy, economic research, and sustainability governance.

Her work sits at the intersection of climate finance, green industrialisation, and the political economy of the energy transition - with a focus on equity and Global South perspectives. At CSE, Avantika leads the Institute’s research and advocacy on macro climate policy issues including equitable fossil fuel transitions, green industrialisation, the trade-climate nexus, climate finance and carbon markets. She has represented CSE at various global fora including UNFCCC meetings, WTO, and Finance for Development (FFD) processes since 2020. In 2025, she launched Carbon Politics, CSE's first video podcast covering climate issues through a Global South lens. Her commentary has appeared in the Financial Times, CNN, Al Jazeera, BBC, DW, Nature, and Climate Home News, among others.

Avantika is also a member of the Political Coordination Group of Climate Action Network (International) – a global network of 2,000 climate-focused civil society organizations. Prior to her role at CSE, she has held roles at the Earth Institute at Columbia University, and Aon Hewitt in Mumbai. Her experiences also include economic analysis and sustainability research for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and the development of an implementation model for energy-efficient LED street lighting in Bogota, Colombia for a project with Bloomberg Associates. She holds a B.A. in Economics from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai, and an M.S. in Sustainability Management from Columbia University, New York.
