This session will explore the key challenges and opportunities associated with the growing use of green industrial policies by a wide range of countries to scale up technological innovation, promote competitiveness in key sectors for the green transition, foster industrialization, or address national security concerns.

Framing Questions

Which cross-border spillovers from green industrial policies most require international attention from the perspective of both their impacts on third countries and their effectiveness at reaching net zero goals and climate-resilient development? 

How can cooperation on the design and implementation of green industrial policies better anticipate and manage impacts on trading partners while preserving policy space for climate action and industrial development? 

How can the design and implementation of green industrial policies better anticipate and manage impacts on trading partners while preserving policy space for climate action and industrial development? What kinds of trade policy cooperation would support the green industrialization strategies of developing countries? Through which bilateral, regional, plurilateral, South-South, or multilateral avenues could they be advanced?
