Matthew Wilson

Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Barbados to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva, Coordinator of the WTO Africa, Caribbean and Pacific Group

Matthew Wilson, a Barbadian diplomat with 25 years of experience in trade and development, is the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Barbados to the United Nations, WTO, and other international organizations in Geneva, as well as to UN agencies in Vienna and Rome. He also serves as Ambassador of Barbados to Switzerland, Austria, and Italy.

Previously, he held senior positions at the International Trade Centre, including Chief of Special Projects and Chief of Staff, and worked as Senior Adviser to the WTO Director General, Deputy Aid for Trade Coordinator at the WTO, and Trade and Human Rights negotiator for the Government of Barbados.

He currently chairs the WTO MSME Group, the ACP Geneva Group, and the WTO Working Party on the Accession of Curaçao, and co-chairs the SIDS Ecosystem Group. Matthew holds degrees in Psychology, International Relations, and Development Studies, as well as MBA-Essentials, and serves on several international boards.
