Tsotetsi Makong

Tsotetsi Makong is a Trade Facilitation Expert, Trade Policy Training Centre in Africa. Previously he was counsellor at the Lesotho Mission in Geneva and chair of WTO Committees on Trade Related Investment Measures and Import Licensing, Coordinator and Chief negotiator of G77 and China Geneva Chapter, expert level Coordinator and Chief Negotiator of the African Group on WTO issues and lead negotiator of the ACP group on trade and environment and for the LDCs on non-agricultural market access. He was expert negotiator of the LDC Group’s negotiations on TRIPS flexibilities and LDC services waiver as well as Africa Group's chief negotiator on the WTO’s Trade Facilitation Agreement. He lectures in TRAPCA MSc in International Trade Policy and Law.
His expertise spans a number of subject matter including intellectual property and competition law, international trade negotiations, trade facilitation and regional integration and international economic law. He contributed in the drafting and legal scrubbing of the AfCFTA. He is currently part of SADC-EU EPAs roster of arbitrators and is committed in the realization of the structural transformation agenda of the African Union. He is author of many publications on trade and development related issues and champions the #afcfta Mokom Marcel Young.
