Janet Njambi Macharia

Janet Macharia is an international trade law and policy practitioner, a licensed lawyer in Kenya, and a Teaching Fellow at Strathmore University Law School, where she teaches International Trade Law and the Law of Business Associations. She is also Chief Executive Officer of the Trade Negotiations and Investment Forum (TNIF), a Nairobi-based think tank that advances research, dialogue and capacity-building on Africa’s trade and investment priorities.
She holds a Master’s in International Economic Law from the Academy of International Economic Law and Policy (AIELPO) in Athens, Greece, and is a Fellow of the Remaking Trade Project. Her work focuses on trade policy, investment strategies and regional integration. Her current research examines special economic zones and government subsidies within the AfCFTA framework. She has also contributed to the development of the Kenya National Investment Strategy through work with Kenya’s ministry responsible for trade, investment, and industrialization.
