About this session

This session will discuss priorities and prospects for trade and technology cooperation to accelerate the decarbonization of heavy industries, such as steel, cement, and aluminium, seeking both to learn from recent developments and to explore new proposals.

Framing Questions

Recognizing an array of competitive, security, and trade tensions, how can trade and trade-related instruments and cooperation support the decarbonization of heavy industries?

What types of collaborative frameworks would effectively support the co-development, accessibility, and uptake of technologies critical for heavy industry decarbonization and facilitate just and fair transitions, particularly in developing countries?

What are the possible pathways for enhanced intergovernmental cooperation in this area (e.g. regional, sectoral, bilateral, or multilateral), as well as among governments and businesses?
